• Posted in The Republic by Guest: Bruce WalkerThe recent news stories that Obama intends to implement much of his health care agenda through executive orders shows just how broken the Constitution of the United States has become. The foundational document of American government provides no legislative power in the presidency - none, zero, nada. George Washington felt that even the presidential veto should be used only in opposition to congressional bills that were unconstitutional. Now, the notion that the president can, effectively, legislate without the involvement of Congress (in certain areas and for certain reasons) has become quietly accepted as part of our federal system.

• Posted in Social Engineering by OffsiteBills pending in Congress that would nationalize health care by setting up mandatory insurance purchases and fines for not complying could penalize married couples $10,000 annually and are a direct attack on marriage, families and the church because of their discriminatory provisions, according to a congressional candidate.
Federal and state lawmakers are elected to represent the public, but partisan politics and clinging to party lines impedes representatives from fulfilling that purpose. American politics are arguably at the highest levels of polarization this country has witnessed in generations. And while politicians bicker back and forth, and take unnecessary and often derogatory potshots at one another, it is tragically the average middle and lower class citizens who suffer the most. So why all the upheaval with maintaining party solidarity, when an elected official is in his or her office to represent their constituents?

• Posted in Progressivism by OffsiteDuring the January 2010 World Economic Summit in Davos, Switzerland, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the current chairman of the G-20, presented the upcoming agenda for the G-20 and G-8 meetings to be held in Ontario in June. Many were shocked to hear this Conservative leader declare, “We also know markets need governance. For the new global economy, the G-20 is what we have.“ Harper went on to speak as an avowed Keynesian committed to a one-world global economy, creating a world “we have been trying to build since 1945”. He went on to warn the world that national self-interest and sovereignty must be opposed to stave off a greater crisis than the current recession. For the next several months leading up to and including the G-20 meetings, Stephen Harper will be attempting to convince the world to find global unity of purpose and adopt what he calls “Enlightened Sovereignty.“

Inside BCBS you could find decision–makers, decision–avoiders, heartless bureaucrats, soft–hearted bureaucrats, dedicated employees and paper shufflers.

• Posted in Police State by Offsite“As I look at America today, I am not afraid to say that I am afraid.“ - Bertram Gross, Friendly Fascism: The New Face of Power in America - Ominous developments in America have been a long time coming, in part precipitated by “we the people” – a citizenry that has been asleep at the wheel for too long. And while there have been wake-up calls, we have failed to heed the warnings.
Chief political correspondent Byron York wrote: “This is about the time Barack Obama becomes bored with his job.“
